The Winners are here - Distinguished Alumni Awards 2011

The IIM Bangalore Alumni Association announces winners of the Distinguished Alumni Award 2011. The DAA or Distinguished Alumni Award is given every year to those chosen few alumni of IIMB who have excelled in industry or academia and also contributed to the society. The award was instituted in 2008 and Mr. Arun Balakrishnan PGP76, Mr. Ashok Sinha PGP77, Mr. MS Zahed PGP76, Mr. Vasant Tilak Naik PGP82, Mr. N Ravi PGP82 , Prof. Aswath Damodaran-PGP'79,  Sridhar Ramanujam PGP'82 ,Dr. K Radhakrishnan-PGP'76 are the earlier winners. Each recipient of the DAA receives a citation and his/her name is engraved on the wall of fame in the institute.

The award will be given at an august ceremony on the evening of Foundation Day of IIMB – October 28^th . The winners for this year are:

Abhishek MukherjeePGP ’76. After graduating from IIMB, a merit rank within the first 10 per cent of his class, he joined the Indian Petrochemicals Corporation (1976-79). After petrochemicals he made a drastic shift to the nascent IT industry. In 1994, Abhishek joined Compaq Computer Corporation as its first Indian Employee and moved up the ranks to become the Country head for India.

Praveen K. Kopalle PGP ’88,  is a professor of marketing at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, Dartmouth College. Professor Kopalle’s research has been at the intersection of technology and marketing, particularly in the retailing domain. He is also the Associate Editor (Marketing Science area) at the Journal of Retailing

Sonjoy Chatterjee PGP ’94, is now the Chairman of Global investment banking major Goldman India operations. Before this, he was the Executive Director on the Board of ICICI Bank. In 2003, he also moved to UK to set up ICICI bank’s first overseas subsidiary, and after 16 years of ICICI he shifted to Goldman Sachs.
