Obituary: Former Chairman Abid Hussain Passes Away

Shri Abid Hussain, former Chairman of  IIMB passed away on  June 21, 2012   in  London.  Shri Hussain,  who  was the Chairman of the Institute from August 1984 to May 1990, played a stellar role in the development of the Institute.

He served in various capacities at the Centre. He was secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, Commerce Secretary and Chairman, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.  He became Member, Planning Commission in 1985. Later on he became India's Ambassador to the US. Shri Hussain was a veteran administrator, economist and diplomat.  He had been honoured with Padma Bhushan for his meritorious services in 1988.
