Hong Kong Anusmaran 2009

Anusmaran ’09, the first official alumni meet at Hong Kong, was held on the 21st of May 2009. The event was organized at the India Recreation Club an Indian club with Cricket, Tennis Court and other sports facilities, located opposite the well known Hong Kong Stadium. This year also marked the launch of the IIM Bangalore Hong Kong chapter with Venkataramana Rao Nott (President), Dennis Varghese (Secretary) and Shyam Maheshwari (Treasurer) being the office bearers.

Anusmaran’09 Hong Kong was planned for duration of seven hours which began in the evening and went all the way up to late in the night. The event kicked off with an informal introduction session in parallel with the registration. As more Alumni joined the meeting, we began with indoor activities– beginning with tug-of-war. With the intent to keep everyone involved, the first round was for the kids of Alumni. The next round began with the 90s batch challenged by the 00s with a smart victory of the 90s batch, the reason of course partly being their ‘positional’ advantage :-). A special round was held next for the interns. Interns from our college were received very well by our alumni and while they caught up on the recent happens in campus, the interns gained from their industry point-of-views and upcoming opportunities.

Alumni discussed issues faced by them at the Institute, opportunities emerging in the midst of the financial crisis, and establishing brand of IIM Bangalore in such volatile times. The grand finale was with drinks and authentic Indian cuisines being served as dinner.  Goodbyes and farewells followed.
